Em "Variações", para flauta solo, dedicada a Celina Charlier, a menção do título confirma a tendência manifesta nas peças desse período. Aqui, o tratamento variacional volta-se tanto para a célula melódica central quanto para alguns outros elementos tematizados, que vão de procedimentos timbrísticos e articulações especiais à insinuação esporádica de uma “valsinha” que sugere à peça, com sutileza, uma certa ternura. Como se espera de obras dessa natureza, o virtuosismo e os quase ilimitados recursos interpretativos podem ser apreciados na execução de largos movimentos ascendentes que exploram toda a gama do instrumento, em figuras velozmente reiteradas, num sem-número de tipos de articulação e timbragem, em diferentes padrões de vibrato e efeitos afins ou no emprego de larga faixa dinâmica.

In "Variações", a piece for solo flute dedicated to Celina Charlier, the title confirms a tendency present in Marisa’s composition from this period. Here the idea of variation is applied both to the central melodic cell and to some other thematic elements, from timbre procedures and special articulations to the intermittent suggestion of a “waltz” that gives the piece a subtle tenderness. As expected in a work of this nature, one can appreciate virtuosity and the almost unlimited interpretative resources in the performance of large ascending movements. These explore the instrument’s entire scope, through figures rapidly repeated, in numberless types of articulation and timbre, in varied patterns of vibrato and similar effects or in the use of a broad range of dynamics.
