De certo modo, a pesquisa de sonoridades continua em evidência em "Sintagma", de 1988, uma das primeiras peças escritas no retorno da compositora ao Rio de Janeiro. O reduzido conjunto de percussão integra-se numa textura única, na qual os sons de tambores, blocos, gongo ou chimes interferem com os da flauta e do piano, resultando em timbres sutilmente modificados e inesperados. A rítmica, aparentemente livre de virtuosismos e de esquemas métricos mais estáveis e perceptíveis, contribui para destacar o teor harmônico, predominantemente consonante e diatônico, que evolui numa trama homofônica.

In a certain way, the research in timbres and so- norities is also evident in sintagma (1988), one of Marisa’s first pieces after her return to her home town. Its small percussive group is integrated into a single texture, in which the sound of drums, blocks, gongo or chimes interfere with the sounds of the flute and the piano, resulting in slightly modified and unexpected timbres. The rhythmic line, apparently free of virtuosity and stable metric schemes, contributes to emphasise the mostly consonant and diatonic harmony that evolves into a homophonic texture.
